Yes they did. Qantas Airways tested its first “ultra long-haul” direct flight from New York to Sydney this past weekend. It’s the longest flight in the world at 19 hours.
The flight featured special meal services and cabin lighting which were intended to help passengers overcome jet lag. With 49 people on board, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flight completed the 10,066-mile journey from New York to Sydney in 19 hours and 16 minutes.
Qantas called the flight “Project Sunrise,” a research flight to test the effects of a 19-20 hour flight on both passengers and pilots.
