If you fly on Korean Air a lot your travel booking is about to get easier. Korean Air Lines is partnering with Kakao to offer flight booking, payment and seating services via Kakao’s messaging platform.
Kakao said the agreement was signed by the two companies on Thursday, it is to launch a simple ticketing service on Korea’s popular mobile platform using Kakao’s latest technologies. The new service would take some time to roll out and could include the KakaoTalk chatbot to handle payments, ticketing and customer care. Kakao will also work on adding various in-flight entertainment.
“As industry leaders with advanced expertise and know-how in our respective fields, we hope to work together in bringing convenience and innovation to our aviation and travel services,” Yeo Min-soo, co-chief executive of Kakao, said after the signing on Thursday.
“We want to deliver greater customer value by applying Kakao’s quality platform and contents to Korean Air’s customer services, ticketing and fintech sectors” said Korean Air CEO Woo Ki-hong. “We expect this aviation-ICT collaboration to pave the way for a new business model.”
